Diseases spread by Mosquitoes:

Mosquitoes can act as vectors for many disease-causing viruses and parasites. Infected mosquitoes carry these organisms from person to person without exhibiting symptoms themselves.

Mosquito-borne diseases include:

1. Viral diseases, such as yellow fever, dengue fever, and chikungunya, transmitted mostly by Aedes aegypti. 
2. The parasitic diseases collectively called malaria, caused by Plasmodium, carried by female mosquitoes of the genus Anopheles
3. Lymphatic filariasis (the main cause of elephantiasis) which can be spread by a wide variety of mosquito species
4. West Nile virus 
5. Zika 
6. Japanese Encephalitis

Thus  mosquitoes are the deadliset of all pests.

Effective mosquito control programme includes:

1. Proper sanitation (removing  water, and shelter), 
2. Habitat disruption,/ breeding source reduction.
3. Biological control, 
4. Mechanical control, 
5. Self-protection 
6. Chemical control :

Mosquito life spends 80 % of their life in water. Ie eggstage, larval stage, pupa stage and adult fly out of water body.  As mosquito lavae moult four times before they become pupa.,Use of  Insect Growth Regulator finds very effective way as larva cannot molt and evertually die. However , IGR will not impact on the eggs , pupa In the water.

Adult mosquito is effectively controlled by use of cold fogging in the environment and  Indoor Residual surface treatments.
